Our Timeline

  1. Sam J. Friedman and John S. Turner joined together, each with 15 years experience in the hotel business, to form Dimension Development Company and develop, own, and operate extended stay hotels, principally Residence Inns and Homewood Suites.

    1988
  2. Dimension expanded into full-service hotels; partnering with a New York real estate investor to lead an expansion of owned and managed properties.

    1991
  3. Dimension ownership and the owning partners sold a series of 18 focus service hotels to a now public company, Apple REIT, and in that transaction, Dimension was retained as the management company to operate those hotels for the new owner.  Dimension continues to operate those properties for the owner and since that time, the owner has placed 5 additional hotels with Dimension as the management company.

    2006
  4. Turner exited Dimension when his interest was acquired by Friedman.

    Dimension ownership joined a Texas bank and a highly successful individual investor to develop, acquire and own more upscale hotels.

    2009
  5. Dimension ownership joined a California private equity fund to acquire high-end full-service hotels, all of which would be operated and managed by Dimension.

  6. With the 3 partners, Dimension has expanded into a complete and diversified hotel development and management organization, currently operating 71 hotels in 14 states. The 3 states with the largest concentrations are CA, LA, and FL.
